You can use tape for a quick emergency repair or until you have a plumber or leak detection specialist to come out and do a permanent repair. You can use waterproof duct tape and keep wrapping it around the pipe until it is completely sealed. The pipe has to be bone dry before you apply the tape.

You could also try using epoxy paste and rubber to try covering the crack, you need to wait for it to set and this should temporarily stop the leak.

DIY and hardware stores also sell pipe patch kits and self-tapping plugs, you can use these plugs to insert them into the hole in your pipe and they will expand to fit.

Although there are many ways to temporarily fix your pipe, this isn’t something that should be left like this for too long. It is always recommended to get your pipes looked over by a qualified plumber who will be able to assess your pipework thoroughly. They will also be able to recommend if your pipework needs replacing and how much it is going to cost.
